Running Log Week July 18th – Running through heat.
I can’t believe July is almost over. How is this possible?
Besides struggling through hot runs it will be over in no time and we will miss it again!
Yesterday afternoon I finally made up my mind and decided to run the Eau West Palm Beach Marathon in December. When I went online to register I found out that at this point they have no idea who will be producing/sponsoring this marathon, so nobody can sign up at this point. What a let down that was!
I looked around to find other marathons in my area for November or December, but they are all about 2 hours away. I just don’t want to travel far with the kids again and then run a marathon, at least not this year. Most marathons in Florida start at 6 – 6:30 am. If I don’t want to stay overnight that means I need to get up at 2 am, leave the house with the entire family at 3am, sit in a car for 2 hours while cramping up and then run 26.2 miles. Honestly, I just don’t have it in me right now.
I just want to roll out of bed, fuel, get in the car for an easy drive and then enjoy running 26 miles. Traveling to New York City and even Disney World to run a marathon was not easy when you consider flying, driving sightseeing the list goes on and running 26 miles right after. Not to talk about the expenses…
Anyway, for now I signed up for the Boca Half-Marathon on November 6th. I’m very happy about that. Hopefully they will make a decision on who is sponsoring and producing the Eau West Palm Beach Marathon. I would be happy to run it.
There is one more funny aspect about this Marathon I need to share with you, besides the fact that they don’t have a producer yet. On one of the marathon sites which lets runners review marathons I read a ton of reviews that for 2 or 3 years in a row runners’ Garmins measured 27.22 miles at the finishing!
I heard funny jokes like this among runners, but never really thought that this actually happens, especially a few years in a row in the same marathon! How is this possible?
Well, anyway, I’d still be happy to run it if registration opens up. At least I get to brag about 27. something miles here on my running blog. 🙂
Let’s see…it should be fun! The course is flat as a pancake but supposed to be really beautiful along the water.
Here is how my running log for week July 18th:
Monday: Monday is supposed to be a definite run day, but that one wasn’t. I headed for Yoga at night at my gym though. Felt so good! I was tempted to run on the treadmill afterwards for about 3 miles but I thought I rather run 6 miles in the morning instead.
Tuesday: 6 miles early morning around my neighborhood. Hard sweaty muggy run. Nothing pretty about it besides the fact that I got it done. Pretty enough, right?
Wednesday: no running
Thursday : No running. I tried to make it work, but I just couldn’t get it done.
Friday: 6 miles outside around my neighborhood early evening. The first half was so humid and sticky and I never thought I would make it past 3 miles.
Something happened after mile 3 though and I had enough strength to finish 6 miles. Yeah! When I walked home there were so many bunnies outside. My boys love watching them. So cute! #FloridaWildlife
Saturday: We were so busy all day that I never noticed the time, especially since it wasn’t getting dark early. We spent most of the day outside by the water in North Palm and I never realized how time was slipping by.
I really planned on running that night and when I checked the clock it was 7:30pm already (!)
At this point we were all starving and my kids wanted fish nuggets and fries. Needless to say I stayed home and we had dinner and played some board games.
After the kids went to sleep I worked on some of my blog posts. I knew when I went to sleep that I need to run early in the morning, otherwise it will not happen again.
Sunday: 8 miles. I got up, had coffee, hydrated and hit the pavement outside early in the morning. It really wasn’t easy running. The humidity and heat index was through the roof. I stopped a few times to take some pics. I rarely ever do that because it’s hard for me to get back my momentum back on after I stopping. 8 miles felt good though. No wait ! – actually awesome! It seems like I can juggle 100 more things in my day after I had a great run.
Total Mileage for this week: 20 Miles, plus lots of Pokemon walks (!).
