…of course I’m starting my weekly training log with a weather update. Even though it’s September there is still more Summer running in store for me here in Florida.
There is no cool down in sight at this point and Palm Beach is still super humid and hot. On those days when it’s not burning hot we’re having rain storms. Stormy days really put a damper on your running – a sticky hot humid run still beats a no-run any day oft the week!
While all the humidity is in full thrive, running is becoming only about putting one foot in front of the other and thinking about the glorious feeling of accomplishment when the run is over! While you’re sticky and sweaty and trying to breath!
I’ve been insanely busy this week yet it’s difficult to recall the details. Does that ever happen to you? I don’t think I suffered a minute of boredom!
Running is really what I consider my “me” time. I run on regular basis because I want to maintain my fitness but it really has become a major de-stresser for me. I just thought this morning during my run that I am so much more productive in my daily activities and to-do lists when I go for a run and wear myself out first. Shaking out all tensed energy first and restoring calmness back into my system. That way I can tackle things throughout the day so much better!
It’s really the calmness of a clear head that I’m chasing when I go for a run.
here is how my running went this week:
Monday: 7 sticky miles on Labor Day. I totally thought it was Sunday morning when I went for my run.
I was so happy when I realized that it was actually Monday – Yipee! Monday run was already done! Monday Runday!
Tuesday: no running
Wednesday: 5 miles on the treadmill
Thursday: 3 miles early morning around our community
Friday: 6 miles on the treadmill. So hot outside! The treadmill was a much better option for some decent mileage
Saturday: It was storming all day. I had to wait for the evening for the storm to calm down to get some running done. When I got outside at about 8pm it was still 86 degrees but I needed to run – 3 miles. Pace 8:22. I was so happy. Best pace in weeks since the heat broke.
Sometimes I feel so much better during evening runs. I had a chance to fuel and hydrate all day prior which makes a huge difference in my energy.
That brings me to the question: Why can’t there be more races at night? Especially in Florida?
Sunday: no running, but 1.5 hours of Yoga at my gym. Pure Bliss! I think I had such a great run today on Monday because of this awesome Yoga session yesterday. We took the kids out for a nice walk along the harbor in Jupiter (and then some Pokemon catching).
Total mileage for this week: 21 miles
