This has been quite a difficult running week. Not only because of the heat right now, the August heat really makes every run just dreadful, but other circumstances that are just out of your hand sometimes, made this week quite challenging for running. My little one came down Wednesday night with a fever. Needless to say I had to cancel my long run for the next morning. My husband’s schedule changed at work.
All in all, I was happy I got at least some mileage in this week, even though I fell 6 miles short of my planned schedule.
This was the worst week for my paces, as well. Each run, I ran one minute slower per mile than usual. My body just felt really fatigued. I had to physical pains, but an overall exhausted feeling. Every run was just for the sake of getting miles in. I wasn’t really passionate about running. Weeks like that happen. They are part of life. You just have to roll with it and keep going anyway. At the end of the week I was okay with the fact that my runs lacked quality. At least it wasn’t quantity 🙂
So here is my Training Log for NYC Marathon 8/3 – 8/9:
Monday: No running. I don’t know what it is, but every time I take off Mondays the rest of my running week becomes really challenging.
Tuesday: 3 miles in the morning. I planned on 6 miles, but the heat was just too much. Stinging and hot. I met up with my running group later that night for 3/4 mile repeats. I didn’t pace myself, but my friend said it was around 8:00. I was too hot to even care at this point. 4.7 miles for that run
Wednesday: Our schedules didn’t allow to even fit a short run in, since I planned a 12 Miler for the next morning I was okay with that.
Thursday: My planned 12 Miler didn’t happen. I was most of the night with my youngest son, who came down with a fever. When he was better that night, I managed to run 6 miles around my neighborhood. Easy, slow pace.
Friday: Late night run around the Duck Pond in Jupiter. It was still 90 degrees at 6:30 pm (!). My husband took the kids to walk around the lake, while I was circling 1 mile loops around the lake. I love it when they cheer me on as if I was on the Olympic Team 🙂 So funny! My Olympic pace was 9:45.
Saturday: 6 miles around my neighborhood at night. I couldn’t believe how hot it still was in the early evening hours. At this point I gave up on my paces. I just ran for the mileage.
Sunday: Sunday I opted for the treadmill. I just couldn’t deal with the heat anymore. I have been running outside the last few months and every treadmill run is becoming dreadful for me. It sometimes is really hard to fight the boredom. 12 miles. Pace 9:07.
Total Weekly Mileage: 38 miles
