Hooray for pineapples!
July is the perfect month for fresh sweet pineapples. You can add them to so many Summer recipes and add some amazing tropical style taste to your dishes.
Lately I have really enjoyed pineapples grilled. What an amazing flavor! Grilling pineapple really brings out the sweetness of this fruit. Otherwise I enjoy fresh pineapple throughout the afternoon, or in my smoothie, along with coconut Milk and protein powder – turning my smoothies into Pina Colada Style! Simply irresistible!
This amazing fruit is packed with so many good-for-you enzymes such as the power-enzyme Bromelain. It helps reduce inflammation (Hello Runners!), contains a ton of Vitamin C and fiber. In Hawaii pineapple is known as a delicious cure for digestive issues and sore throats.
When choosing a pineapple look for one that feels heavy for its size. A great indicator for ripeness is trying to gently pull one of the inner leaves. If you can pull it off easily the pineapple is ready to eat!
