Week of November 7th Running Log

Week of November 7th Running Log

This week exhausted me and I was barely running!!

After injuring my ankle during last week’s Half-Marathon in Boca Raton I was forced to take it easy this week in terms of running. I have been icing my foot and have been applying a topical ointment called Traumeel a few times a day, plus rest. Now a week later my ankle feels a lot better!

Here is my running log for this week:

Monday: Rest Day.

Tuesday: 3 Miles in the morning around my community. It was election Tuesday and we spent the day at John D. Mc Arthur Beach and Park with the kids. You kind of felt an anticipating atmosphere everywhere. In times like this I’m always drawn to the beach.

Wednesday: Don’t even remind me of this day… I was all night up watching the election. I think I only slept an hour and a half. The entire Wednesday I felt tired and drained. Even if my ankle had not been injured I still wouldn’t have had the stamina to run anyway.

Thursday: No running. I was catching up all day with my huge to-do list.

Friday: I went for a 3 mile run. I was thinking about whether I should be signing up for another marathon … not sure what I’m going to do but the thought is definitely in the back of my mind.

Saturday: I was up very early that morning. I just felt the need to lace up my running shoes and head outside. The temps have been cooler in the early morning hours but it’s still humid. I was so slow during this run, I just couldn’t get any spring into my soles! I hope I will get my energy and running mojo rather sooner than later. I’m sure skipping onย  sleep this entire week didn’t help my running energy either.

Sunday: I woke up with the stuffiest nose ever!!! Jim was working all day. The kids and me spent the day at home and then headed outside to the shore. My boys are such creative forces, they do arts and crafts for hours at home. We went to the playground near an inlet and the sunset was just spectacular!

Welcome to my Blog. I'm so happy you're here. I blog about my running journey, my love for healthy food, including gluten-free and vegan recipes, and fun and easy crafts.
Your thoughts here
  1. Oh no, I’m sorry to hear about your ankle! Glad to hear that you are feeling better after a little rest.

Last week I was on vacation so I did do a couple of runs and a good amount of hiking, but nothing too crazy. Wednesday was a rough day for me too, sigh!

  2. Thanks for linking up and I hope your ankle feels better soon. The beach is my happy place too. I was just thinking about how I had this feeling of sadness and I couldn’t figure out why but now that I see your pictures I think it has everything to do with the season – it’s cold, overcast and dark here from now until end of March ๐Ÿ™

Have a fantastic week and enjoy some beach time for me!

  3. I’ve never heard of that topical ointment…prescribed? or just over the counter?

  4. I hope your ankle is feeling better! It sounds like you had a busy week but you were still able to get some miles in!

  5. Hope your ankle is feeling better this week! We all need a few days off anyway right?!

  6. Sorry to hear about your ankle! Ice and rest up! Hopefully it’ll be back to normal soon.

  7. OH, your beach pics! They make me long for the beach.

  8. What a beautiful beach scene!!! My parents have been in town so I’ve done NOTHING all week. Ugh I need to get on it and this motivates me big time!

  9. Bummer. Happy to hear you took it easy and you’re listening to your body. Beautiful photos!

  10. I would think just being at the beach is therapeutic. At least it would be for me!

  11. How nice to live so close to the beach like that. We’re usually in Florida this time of year and missing it for the first time in a while because our oldest started school. I’m definitely having withdrawals! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Im sure the time off will help you come back healthier and stronger! The beach and the outdoors are my happy place. I also love a good sunset- so pretty!

  13. I’m happy to hear you’re finally feeling better, hope you have a lovely week !!

  14. The beach is always a great place to go to relax and rejuvenate. Take care of that ankle. Sometimes your body just knows.

  15. Such pretty views! Relax, get good rest and before you know it, you’ll be back at it stronger and more determined. XO

  16. I felt the same way on Wednesday morning…it was awful.

  17. Great post. I think Tuesday into Wednesday last week threw everyone off. It’s hard to believe it was only a week ago. Glad to see you were able to recover and get some good running in.

  18. Injuries et me back a little, but I always come backs strong than every and more appreciative of my body and all that I put it through. Iโ€™m so happy to hear your ankle is all better.

  19. Last week was quite good, including a surprising PR, which seems to have reaggravated a very minor injury so I’m taking it a bit easier this week. Want to get to my next half feeling good.

Here’s hoping your foot is feeling better!

    • Sometimes taking it easy and rest is a must Judy! you are absolutely right abut going into your Half-Marathon healthy!
      Thanks for stopping by!

  20. I’m glad your ankle is feeling better Ilka! Your beach pics look amazing. A couple more weeks and I’ll be in FL! And then again for Christmas (Naples)!

  21. Your views are amazing.

Wednesday sucked. All over the place sucked.

Sorry to hear you’re sick. Hopefully you’re feeling better by now!

  22. Oh, how I wish I could still run by the beach! Too cold up here in Michigan!

  23. You captured a beautiful sunset. I didn’t stay up to see the election results, but felt exhausted anyway. Still do. I think (hope) it’s just the normal adjustment to another marathon training cycle. We grew up with a place on the coast and my grandfather thought the salt air and salt water were good for anything that was ailing you. I think he was on to something. I hope you are having a better week. Thanks for linking, Ilka.

  24. Your day at the beach with the family sounds fabulous. Isn’t it hard to be stressed with such beauty and tranquility around you? Hoping your ankle is better by now.
Thanks Ilka for your support! Hoping you have a great rest of the week!

  25. ARG that week was exhausting for all of us, much less with kiddos ! But I think that we all needed at least a little running in our lives as well. And you needed some recovery!
