Who doesn’t love delicious brownies? It’s one of the ultimate chocolatey treats and if they happen to be made with healthy ingredients it makes them even more appealing – Hooray for guiltless snacking! I’m really lucky that we do not have any severe food allergies in our family. However, it’s not hard to notice the positive effects gluten-free or grain-free diets have on your overall well-being, even if you only add these foods to your regular diet. I always experiment with new brownie recipes. I love the gluten-free kind, but I really liked the idea of a Paleo grain-free version. These Paleo brownies is a great treat and you really don’t have to feel bad about eating. Like all Paleo recipes this brownie recipe is grain free, refined sugar free, dairy free and made with coconut oil – so much good-for-you nutrients here, and a brownie that is so much easier on your waistline. Don’t you just love guilt-free snacking? I snack all day long, and when the afternoon rolls around, just like most people, I’m craving chocolate or caffeine. Great to have a nutritious yummy snack on hand!
I usually love adding pure maple syrup as a replacement to sugar in my baking, and this is one of the first times, when I really enjoyed the use of raw honey. The raw honey compliments the dark cocoa perfectly, underlying the rich decadent chocolate flavor of this brownie. If you really want to make your brownies chocolatey, you can add dairy and refined sugar free chocolate chips ( Enjoy Life is a great brand and available at lots of health food stores).
My favorite thing of Paleo Brownies is: indulgence with no sugar hangover – I’m always happy over that! I really try to make an effort to stir clear from snacks that put my blood sugar on a roller coaster for the rest of the day – luckily, this isn’t of them! 🙂
Enough raving already about these delicious Paleo brownies – here is what you need to make them:
3/4 cup Coconut Oil
3/4 cup Cocoa Powder
3/4 cup Raw Honey
1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla
1/2 cup Coconut Flour
pinch of salt
optional: 1/2 cup Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips
- preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a bowl add coconut oil, eggs, raw honey and vanilla.
- Add coconut flour and cocoa and salt.
- Grease 8×8 inch pan with coconut oil, add batter and bake for about 25 minutes.
Insert a wooden stick to see if brownie is done. If no batter is left on the stick your brownie is done.
