My Weekly Marathon Training Log 6/29 – 7/5

This week’s marathon training log fell a bit shorter than last week’s mileage log. The culprit was an unexpected day off on Wednesday due to scheduling difficulties. So I lost about 6 miles for that day off. But that’s okay. I ran a bit ahead of my training schedule last week anyway. I just enjoyed the daily runs. Like I mentioned before my only time to run right now is in the afternoon, which is very hot and humid right now here in South Florida. Most of the time I run in upper 80s and lower 90s. I’m just amazed though how my body is adapting to running in this heat within a few months of training. Granted, my pace is a lot slower than in colder temperatures but I am able to withstand the heat more and more.

It’s amazing how our bodies are able to adjust when given the time.

Needless to say hydration is essential,  especially electrolytes, otherwise you won’t get far. I bought a new Adidas visor to protect and relax my face during runs. I recently read that relaxing your face during running preserves energy.I never knew that, but makes total sense. I purchased new running sneakers this week as well. Saucony Cohesion 8. Love this running shoe. Review will follow this week.

Here is my weekly marathon training log for last week:

Mo: no run

Tues: Indian Run (Speed work) with my running group. Our coach was right, the most loved and hated workout. What a hard workout it was indeed , but I ended up loving it.  3 miles

Wed: no run

Thursday: 8 miles with my running group, easy 9:15 pace. Nice run along Ocean Side.

Friday: 6 miles around my neighborhood. My legs felt fatigued, but I pushed through.

Sat: 10 miles. The first 7 miles felt okay, but the last 3 were quite hard. I stopped at a gas station to get some Gatorade, which helped to finish this run in 90 degrees weather. Felt great afterwards.

Sun: 6 miles on the treadmill. The sun was way too strong to run outside, so I chose the treadmill. I would have rather ran outside but sometimes you have to go with treadmill.


Total Weekly mileage: 33 miles
