Time for another Favorite Smoothie Recipe of mine. Summer is approaching and smoothies are the perfect way for healthy and yummy hydration. Smoothies are my number one go-to fuel during the day when I’m too busy to make myself a meal, and the perfect post-run recovery snack.
I have made this Mixed Berries Smoothie quite a few times this week. I recently started adding Spirulina to my smoothies. The green tint of Spirulina gives this usual purple berry smoothie an even deeper purple. Spirulina has a bit of a distinct strong algae taste ,but I have found that berries and the addition of Pure Maple Syrup actually makes this smoothie pretty yummy. I lately have chosen to add Spirulina to my daily smoothies for its amazing immune and anti-aging benefits and cell protection. It suppose to be very helpful with energy levels as well. The salesperson at the health food store suggested that I use Earthrise from California, since they manufacture the highest quality spirulina in the world. I had no idea! I love adding hemp hearts for their healthy Omega 3 benefits as well. Besides sprinkling them on my salads at dinner I now add them to my smoothies. Love the nutty flavor!
1 cup Almond Milk
3/4 frozen Mixed Berries
1 scoop Vegan Protein Powder (or protein powder of your choice)
3/4 tsp Spirulina Powder
1 teaspoon Hemp Hearts
1 teaspoon of Pure Maple Syrup
Put everything in a blender, mix it up and enjoy!:):)
