One of the things I can’t live without is mesclun salad. If I go a few days without having salad, I can definitely feel a difference in my energy levels, food cravings and overall digestion. The chlorophyll in a green plant food alkalies your system, providing you with a nice amount of vitamin K, a necessary vitamin for blood health and giving your energy levels a nice boost.

My body feels sluggish when I do not include raw foods, like mesclun salad or fruits into my diet.

I try to make a salad every day for me and my husband. My kids are still too young to like it,  but hopefully that will change in the near future. Most of the time I’m adding avocado, for its healthy fats and alkaline benefits. I don’t make a big fuss about the dressing, a high quality organic olive oil and unfiltered flaxseed oil ( Omega 3s!), some Himalayan Salt and Pepper and garlic powder is usually all I need . If I’m in the mood I add some apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice, along with grated cheese and unsalted sunflower seeds.
