When I found this craft idea over at Imagination Tree I thought this would be such a great summer craft idea for my 4 year old, and another wonderful craft idea for using up all the sea shells we collected over the last few weeks. We always have plenty of egg cartons in the house which I purposefully collected for craft projects, so I’m constantly on the look out for new craft ideas involving egg cartons. I also love the idea of recycling household items for craft projects.
My son instantly loved the idea of recreating his own “little ocean” from an egg carton and we had a ton of fun creating this project.
It turned out so beautiful and sparkly that this little ocean egg carton craft is a beautiful decorating piece in our living-room. The kids are still paying great attention to it and are thinking about creating other egg carton landscapes. It was really easy and great entertainment. I recommend this project for kids four years and up. Here is what you need: a small egg carton, we cut a large one in half some blue non-toxic acrylic paint blue glitter ocean-themed embellishments or stickers jewel-like stickers little shells
Paint the egg carton entirely in blue paint, make sure that all of the inside of the egg carton is covered with blue paint. While paint is still damp, apply glitter so it sticks. It will only take a few moments until the paint is dry enough so you can apply the stickers and other decorations. I basically let my son’s imagination take over and let him decide where and how to apply the stickers. It turned out beautiful!
