After a couple of people (incl. my son’s preschool teacher) told me about homemade playdough, I had to give it a try. It’s really easy to make and the result is an even softer dough than the commercial one, for a fraction of the cost. You can even add essential oils, like lavender, for a nice scent. It’s as easy as 123.

Here is what you need to make Homemade Playdough:

2 1/2 cups bleached flour
1 1/2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 1/2 cups salt
3 tablespoons olive or grapeseed oil ( I used canola / coconut oil and it worked out fine)
2 cups warm water
food color ( blue, green, yellow and red)

Mix all dry ingredients in a pot. Put pot on low heat, add the lukewarm water and stir mixture until dough is no longer sticking to the walls of the pot. Remove from heat, take it out, let cool slightly. Divide dough into little dough sizes, add food color to each ball, blend it well and store it in Ziploc bags.
