Here are my Friday Fives: Favorite Race Swags:
I have to admit, I almost forgot about them. They were buried somewhere in a drawer, inside a Ziplock bag. I came across some awesome memories writing the post for this Friday’s Favorite Fives. Honestly, I barely ever saved anything from my races. My last race was December 2009, before my first pregnancy. I put racing on hold, but never running. So here are some the items that meant the most to me over the years: 1) Boston’s Run to Remember. My first Half Marathon, first race and my first outdoor run. (yes, crazy, all in one. I only ran on the treadmill up to that race and never outside. I finished in 2 hours and 2 minutes). Great memory. This was by far my favorite race ever. The vibe and the atmosphere is unbelievable. Super organized, and just a pleasure to run.
2) The Bib from my first 20 Miler Training Run for the Marathon. I felt such great accomplishment.
3) My Marathon medal from my First Marathon. The Long Island Marathon 2009. I finished in 4:18. It was raining from the Start to the Finish, actually down pouring hard in the last hour of my run. My running shoes were drenched and you could barely see what was in front of you. But I finished! I was so happy!
4) The Race shirt from Run as One. My husband joined me for this race. He never runs and joined me out of fun. I also love the cut of this shirt. Not all race shirt fit that great. I still wear it, even though it’s 6 years old.
5) Medal from NYC Half Marathon This was such a tough race. Back then they hosted the NYC Half Marathon in August, the temperatures were unbearable in the City. In recent years they moved the NYC Half Marathon to March, when the conditions are much safer. I was happy I finished in 2:02.
