Paper Mache Crafts are super fun, and a great outlet for so many creative ideas! The list of creative paper Mache projects is endless. This DIY Paper Mache Bowl is a very entertaining craft idea for all ages. Paper Mache Bowls like this are fun to make, they train kids fine motor skills, they have a great artsy look and they even make great memory keepsakes.
Like all my craft ideas this is another craft project that is super easy and no big expenses are involved. This is also a paper Mache bowl craft idea that does not involve a balloon. Instead we used a regular basic plastic bowl as a mold. To make this bowl pretty I used decorative flowery gift wrap. I think this pattern looks beautiful and refreshing around the house. You can certainly use any paper style of your choice.
As in my other Paper Mache Bowl Craft Projects I have used my own homemade Mod Podge again. It really is a great kept secret among many crafters.
All you need is a bottle of regular washable School Glue, a jar with a lid and about 1/3 cup of Water.
Pour school glue in the jar, add water, close lid tightly and give it a good shake until mixture is well blended.
There you have your own homemade Mod Podge.
It really is that simple!
Here is what you need for your DIY Paper Mache Bowl:
1 small plastic Bowl ( or really any size you like)
Gift Wrap Paper of your choice
Jar of Homemade Mod Podge
- cut paper into small square pieces
- soak cut paper pieces in homemade Mod Podge and apply pieces to the outside of your bowl
- cover the entire outside of your bowl and let it fully dry. I suggest a full 24 hours
- when paper is dry break bowl loose from glued paper
- trim uneven edges with scissors!
Tip: If you really want to preserve your DIY Paper Mache Bowl you can seal your bowl with a layer of decoupage. It will harden the paper shell even more for a sturdier look!
