This beautiful greenery wreath is made from the simplest list of materials. Sticks and branches I have found outside in nature and some twine. It really is a fun DIY project and it adds a beautiful natural touch to your home decor, no matter what season it is.
I collected all kinds of sticks for this crafts, long vines though worked the best and the easiest. The thinner vines were easier to bend and wrap around in a circle. The harder sticks broke more easily when wrapped and twisted, but I still incorporated them anyway, since it gave this project a very natural rural look.
I originally planned on sticking the branches together with a glue gun, but when my glue gun failed, I had no other choice than tying the sticks together with twine. The sticks held together perfectly with just the twine!! I later camouflaged the white twine with black permanent marker, so it wouldn’t be visible.
One important thing I did before I started wrapping the branches into a wreath was soaking them for an hour in a bucket of water. That way the wood became softer and was easier to shape and form. I personally think that the sticks don’t have to be perfectly arranged, it adds so much more charm when they naturally stick out here and there.
All in all, I tied together 3 layers of long sticks.
Last, I worked in a few branches with leaves, two on the bottom and one left and right. The branches with the leaves were easy to work through the nest of branches, no twine was required for that last step.
So if you’re in the mood to make a wall decor that perfectly represents the outdoors this wreath is an awesome DIY idea! Have fun!!
